Hark! The Herald Angel Sang

Well, last night was a really special treat. Don took me and the Roses to see LeAnn Rimes perform with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for my birthday. We started with a lovely dinner at Mediterrano, though there was no time for dessert and we did have to listen to the shrill, icepick-like shrieking of a one-year-old child for an excruciating 45 minutes while the mother did little to quiet her. There was a bit of construction traffic heading downtown Detroit which made me a little nervous that we'd be late for the show, but we managed to make it there with about 10 minutes to spare.
Our seats were about 5 rows from centerstage, so we had a prime view of LeAnn. The DSO started with a few instrumental carols before LeAnn came out to sing. It was a wonderful concert and she sounded so angelic. Even though we had to listen to the fat lady behind us humming every song, I still thought I was on cloud 9...until she sang Amazing Grace. As soon as I heard the first word, I already had tears streaming down my face, I was so emotionally moved by the beauty of her voice. If I'd known she was going to sing that, I would have brought tissues.
Did I mention we also saw Bill Lambeer as we were leaving?
Thanks, Don! This has truly been the best birthday ever!
