Budding Supermodel

I just had to put this picture of my niece Tessie up on my blog. I found this picture on my sister's family photo gallery and couldn't get over how cute it was! She's got her Catholic school uniform on and I imagine she's on the school playground. She looks to me like she's modeling uniforms for some catalog. This picture totally depicts her entire personality. Adorable!!!
From the mouths of babes: One day, my parents took Tessie to the shopping mall. She kept pointing at things saying, "Can I buy that? ...Can I buy that?" Dad kept saying no until finally, she pointed to a box of candy and asked the same question, "Can I buy that?" Dad asked her, "Do you have any money?" She pointed to him and promptly replied with all her sassy-ness, "No, but YOU do!"

No, that doesn't sound harsh to me because I see WAAAAAY too many children who act like that! I think parents are way too afraid these days that their punishment will be too harsh that they overcompensate and end up not punishing them enough. The kids end up being BRATS! And I totally agree with the Supernanny thing. I LOVE that woman!
I have this friend Tara, who lives in Florida. She's probably the best mom I've ever seen in terms of discipline. Her daughters are 3+ and 1+. Her older daughter is VERY well behaved and it's CLEAR that Tara taught her very well. And the way she does it is really neat...kind of like the Supernanny. She encourages Paige to do big girl things like acting like a lady and it really works! I always say that if I ever changed my mind about having kids and wanted them, I'd be calling Tara all the time for advice!

LOL!!!!! She sounds like my little cousin Ashley!...yet 100x more polite. Ashley...*sighs* Too bad spanking children is now considered a crime. Ashley practically needs manners beaten into her, ya know? I blame Kelly for it. When I baby sat Ash, Chris, and Amanda for a weekend a couple of months ago...Oh, I was soooo ready to call in Super Nanny or BE Super Nanny!! Yea. No really manners and they were practically raised on TV. That brings back memories.
When I have kids, I'll do it right. 1)teach manners at an early age. 2)very little TV. 3)screaming, "I WANT THIS I WANT THAT!" will be an instant excuse for getting grounded.
Do I sound like I'd be a harsh mom??
Tessie and Ashley look a bit a like...and that's scary!
