On Fire!!

Wow, I think I'm on fire these last couple of days! Yesterday, I went to the motorcycle dealer to talk to someone about a motorcycle safety course. I spoke to Mike who showed me a few bikes I never would have considered because I thought they'd be too high, too heavy or too powerful. He showed me a Kawasaki Vulcan 850 that seemed to feel JUST right, as Goldilocks would say. Though, I'm not ready to buy right now and the Vulcan was too expensive. But he also gave me some information about a safety course at Washtenaw Community College.
I gave him my business card and told him that if he saw anything I might like. He seemed impressed that I work at Quicken Loans. I jokingly said, "Need a home loan? I'm your contact!" He said he actually might! I started telling him about our old house on Shady Lane. He seemed very interested and said he'd probably want to look at it. So, we've got a prospective buyer and loan client!
Not only that, but today at work, I organized a sign-up for anyone on our Marketing Team who wants to carpool. I'm totally OUTRAGED that gas prices have gone well above $3 per gallon overnight! I figure if I can get 3 other people to carpool with me and each of us drives one week out of the month, I could save between $150-$200 per month in gas! Not to mention that I can't get any tickets if I'm not driving! Eventually, I'm going to get this plan implemented to the entire company. But we have to see how well it works for our team first.
Ssssssssss! Yowch!

Yeah, it is crazy, isn't it? The highest I saw was $3.29, but that was during last week and I think because of Katrina, the bitch! But I saw Meijer's at $2.99 all weekend and up till today. I wonder if they pledged to keep their prices down. I filled up there before they could raise it. I even told my parents today that Don and I would skip our weekly dinner with them. I felt very guilty using so much gas to get to and from their house, especially since Don and I would have driven separately. We'll go there next week for Mom & Don's (belated) birthday celebrations. But until this gas crisis is over or at least calmed, I think I'll try to drive less. Too bad I have to drive 60 miles a day to and from work! Gotta get more people to sign up for the carpool.

It's amazing how the price changed over the Labor Day Weekend!! Wednesday prior to Labor Day, the gas price was at its 'normal'-$2.75 a gallon and got some gas for the trip to the cottage on Thursday. I drive pass by the gas stations on an erran on Thursday and was surprised the gas price had gone up to $3.49 as there were many people lining up to get gas. Boy, I was glad I got some the day before. Friday morning at the cottage, my brother, Tom mentioned to me to make sure I got some gas in town, gas price had gone crazy. I told him I have enough to make it home on Monday. So that was the furthest thing on my mind over the weekend. Sunday, Kim wanted to go home and I decided to agree with her so I can spend the day-Monday-with Bob-he had to work that weekend. As soon as I got to Port Huron, I was suprised to see the gas had gone down by 50 cents at $2.99!!! Just for the weekend???
