Equal Recognition for Unequal Work? Not Fair

Angry.gif

I know that the world is unfair; that life isn't fair. But it won't stop me from ranting. Speaking in general terms, of course, it REALLY gets my goat that there are people in the world who I have to deal with that are completely incompetent...yet they get recognized the same as I do. They do a crappy job, don't work hard, and generally don't care as much as I do about doing a good job. And yet they're still considered my equal.

It's an affront to me because I work my ASS off to be good at something I love to do. Now, I know I'm not the best at what I do. But, unlike some, I actually LISTEN to those who are better than me because I know they're trying to teach me and help me be better. I'm not so arrogant to think I don't need to listen to those trying to teach me or that I'm just going to do things my own way because I think it's easier.

I'll tell you what though...if I had it my way, certain people would be in much different positions--some higher ranked, and some lower.

Specialty Item: Fried Rice

fried rice.jpg

Wow, this is really cool. We've started a sort of weekly tradition at JMAC dojo where every Thursday, we do our Iaido and Jujutsu workout. We get done about 9pm and by then, we're pretty hungry so we head to Cherry Blossom Japanese restaurant after class. It's barely a block away from the dojo, so it's really convenient.

It started a few weeks ago when Tony, Don and I went there for ramen noodles and beer. The boys like Sapporo beer and they serve the large cans. Don got a hankering for fried rice and talked Tony into asking the waitress for some. But they don't serve it there. Tony, being the cheeky guy he is, kept prodding her to see if she'd give in, but she told us they couldn't do it unless we had more people. So we decided to get a bunch more people to come back the next week.

We came back and managed to talk the owner into getting the chefs to cook fried rice for us. And it was GOOD! Each week we come back, the mound of fried rice keeps getting bigger and bigger. And they're always happy to see us. We usually order a couple appetizers like California rolls, some salmon sushi, edamame on top of our usual two big plates of fried rice and about 6 or 7 large Sapporos.

They love seeing us so much they even assigned a button on their cash register that says "specialty item: fried rice $12." Can you believe that?! That REWLZ!!!
