Lunar Eclipse
Tonight was the lunar eclipse and it looked really cool. Don and I saw it at first when we came out of the dojo. By then, it was about 4/5ths covered by the shadow of the Earth and only a small sliver of white glowing moon was left. We went to eat at Qdoba so we could get home quick to watch it. As soon as we got home, we jumped in the hot tub and had the perfect view of it.
The sky was perfectly clear, not a cloud in the sky. There were so many stars out and they were really bright. For the first time in a long time, I could find virtually all the constellations I know: The Big Dipper, Cassiopaea, the Pleides, the Seven Sisters, and my favorite, Orion. It took too long for the whole thing to happen while we were in the tub, however, it was virtually covered like you see in this picture. After that, we just went inside and "celebrated" with the last few sips of the Sandeman's 20-year Tawny Port...the nectar of the GODS! Cool!!

I wanted to see the lunar eclipse, but clouds got in the way... *weeps* So mean!
That seems to be the case with me and astronomy: any major astronomical event, ie: meteor showers, solar and lunar eclipses, star parties (you go and meet up with other astronomy addicts *
Thanks for posting this! It was neat!!!
