The Most Maximus Birthday Ever
Oh my GOD!!!!!!!! Last night, Don gave me the BEST birthday present I EVER GOT!!!!! He came home with the CUTEST little black kitten. We named it Maximus Poopious (pronounced poop-ee-us). He's only about 7 weeks old and he is soooooooooo adorable!!! We picked out that name a long time ago for our next kitty and this one totally fits--he may be small but PEEEEE-YEWWWWWWW!!! His teeny little poops are huge smell-bombs!!
I had absolutely NO idea he was going to do this. The thought of getting a kitten for my birthday never even crossed my mind. I knew Don had been wanting to get a kitten after Hideous died, but I thought we'd have to wait until spring or summer to get a kitten. As much as I know about cats, I didn't realize that they can have kittens all year round. I thought it was a seasonal thing.
Don and my brother somehow conspired together. We were supposed to meet my brother, my mom and my dad at the restaurant for a birthday dinner, but Oupie wanted to meet at the house. And Don was already coming home from the vet from taking Princess in for a few tests (she's been having problems breathing--we don't know yet what's wrong). So when he walked in the house with the cat carrier, no big surprise till I saw what was in it!! My brother took a video of my reaction--again, no big surprise since he's always taking pictures or video. I told him to post on Youtube. When I get the link, I'll post it here. In the meantime, here's Don's not-so-high-quality phone video of my reaction.
It occurred to me last night as I was trying to fall asleep (Maximus wanted to keep playing and I was too excited to sleep), that Maximus was born RIGHT around the time that Hideous died. And I'm quite certain that his fur is going to be soft and fuzzy like Hideous'. In fact, he looks exactly like Hideous did as a kitten (minus the white spot on his chest). Now, if you believe in reincarnation (which I do), what do you think the chances are of Hideous' soul reincarnating and coming back to us in the form of this new kitten? I think pretty darned good!! Especially since certain souls are destined to stay together--I think Hideous' soul is linked to Don's very tightly.
I can tell you now...I am having the BEST year ever! First I get a ton of new furniture, then I get the most awesome job I've ever had, and now a new kitten for my birthday! I thought life couldn't get ANY better than having the first two things. Guess I was wrong!!! I have THE BEST husband in the ENTIRE WORLD!!!!!!

Silence! I Kill You!
Ever have one of those times where you laugh at something SO hard, you think you've never laughed so hard in your life? Well, I thought I had one of those when I first watched Jeff Dunham do his "Achmed the Dead Terrorist" skit from his "Spark of Insanity" show. I remember laughing so hard that tears were streaming from my eyes, my stomach hurt and of course I couldn't breathe. My favorite line from Achmed: "SILENCE! I KILL YOU!" For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, here's the original skit.
So then I went out and bought Jeff's new Christmas Special DVD. I wanted to watch it while Don was out playing poker with the boys. Of course, he brought back Achmed and you know what? I laughed EVEN HARDER than before. I still had tears streaming down my cheeks, my stomach hurt, I couldn't breathe, but this time I laughed twice as hard. WHOA! And I literally fell over on the couch. If you have a chance to buy it, rent it or maybe you can find it on Youtube, DO SO!!! I highly recommend it! To give you a hint, here's a bit with Achmed from last Christmas. Enjoy!!

Sign of the Times?
This is the sign at the Citgo gas station at State St. and I-94 from just last night. To think--just 6 months ago gas prices were DOUBLE this and then some. Other than to say that I don't remember gas being THIS cheap since before George W. was in office 8 years ago, I'm...completely...speechless!

Matthew Gets Promoted

This is just TOOOOOO cute! There was a martial arts test recently and Matthew, one of my favorite little boys, asked the Sensei if he could test and get a promotion too. Check out his AMAZING performance...he bows really well!! Great job Matthew, Andi, and everyone else who tested!

Obama Wins!!
Today is such a BEAUTIFUL day...the most beautiful November day in history. Why? Because we've just elected our first African-American president--a most intelligent, well-spoken and thoughtful person. (BUSH, YOU'RE FIRED!!) Also, it's completely sunny and 70 degrees outside right now, I've just had my monthly chiropractic adjustment, I had a great massage therapy session last night, I have a FANTASTICALLY great job working with amazingly great people in a place I love, and I'm married to the love of my entire life and we have a beautiful home. Honestly, I don't think life could be much better than it is now (personally speaking, that is).
