Oahu Vacation

Oahu 2009.JPG
So our trip to Hawaii was pretty great. Weather could have been better--there were a few days that were windy and cloudy. Don and I went see Pearl Harbor where there's a sunken ship that you can still see parts of in the water, a battleship called the USS Missouri (aka The Mighty Mo--below) that you can walk around on (very cool) and a submarine you can go into (also cool). We also went snorkeling, me for the first time, it was really fun. There was a ton of coral and lots of interesting and large fish, even in only a few inches of water! Getting used to breathing through a snorkel tube was hard at first, but once I got used to it, I had a lot of fun. But the water was kind of cold, so I had to stop after about an hour. Unfortunately, I didn't have an underwater camera, but I'll remember to bring one next time when we go to Maui in July.

We also walked up to Diamondhead Crater beach which was probably about 3 or 4 miles. It was a great day to do that since it was sunny and nice, but I had some old shoes that hurt my feet and gave me a blister. :( I had to go buy some new shoes that didn't irritate my blister.

And speaking of buying, Don actually picked out a new bikini swim suit for me. I wouldn't have thought it possible that he could pick something like that out for me, but he did and it's really cute. It's like a blue and black palm frond design on white. Not something I would have immediately picked out for myself, but once I put it on, he really liked it so I had to buy it.

We also did a ton of walking up and down the main shopping strip, went to lots of really good restaurants with REALLY yummy food, and spent a lot of time sitting by the hotel pool. (Thank goodness the last day was very sunny...I would have felt really cheated out of my vacation had it not been.) All in all, we had a great time but we were also glad to get home to see the kitties again. :)

I've posted pictures, so look and enjoy!
